For DJs
Labels and artists use Dubsend to send you their unreleased music. This page explains what you get, what the sender sees and how to stop the emails.
What you get
- An email from "Label name via Dubsend". Replies go to the label.
- A personal link to the promo page. No account, no app, no password.
- A player for each track, an optional or required feedback form (the label decides), and WAV and MP3 downloads.
- At most one reminder per promo, and only if you haven't opened the promo page, downloaded or given feedback.
What the label sees
For each promo the label sent you, it sees:
- whether the email was delivered and opened (an open is recorded when the cover image in the email loads; opens loaded by email privacy tools, such as Apple Mail, are marked as such);
- when you visited the page;
- how many seconds of each track you played;
- which files you downloaded (WAV or MP3);
- your rating, favourite track and comment, next to how long you had listened when you wrote it;
- whether you unsubscribed.
Dubsend does not record your IP address, browser or location for the label. A label only sees what you did with its own promos, never your activity with other labels.
The label can share a read-only report with its artist. Reports never show your email address, and your name only appears if the label chooses to show it.
Your downloads
Each file you download carries text tags with your name, your email address and the label's name ("Promo for your name and email - label"). The audio is the label's original file, unchanged. If you forward your link, anything done with it is still recorded against you and the files still carry your name.
Unsubscribe and reminders
Every promo email and promo page has an unsubscribe link. It works at any time, even after the promo ended. It stops emails from that brand only (the label or artist name the promo came from). Many email apps also show their own Unsubscribe button for our emails, which works with one click. The brand can't add you back; if you change your mind, sign up again on its join page.
From the same page you can keep the promos but stop reminder emails from that brand.
Your data
The label that sent you the promo decides what is done with your contact details and activity: it is the data controller, and Dubsend processes the data for it. To see, correct or delete your data, contact the label (reply to its email). If you can't reach the label, write to support@dubsend.com and we will pass your request on.
If an email to you hard-bounces or you report one as spam, Dubsend adds your address to its block list, so no label can email you through Dubsend again. Our block list keeps a hash of the address; our email provider, Amazon SES, also keeps the address itself on its suppression list. To be taken off both, write to support@dubsend.com. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
